Nepal has particularly four main seasons, June-September (Monsoon), October-December (post-Monsoon), January-March (Winter Season) and April-June (Pre-Monsoon). Nepal's climate and weather differs with its topography and altitude. Due to the geographical diversity, the high Himalayan areas are cold all the year, mid-land regions are pleasant almost all the year round whereas the low-land tropical terai region is somewhat hot during the summer.
Spring (between March-May) Season: During this season, the temperature and weather is mild in low lands while moderate in the higher altitudes. This is the best time for flora to blossom and the nature seems to be colorful and in the hilly and mountainous region, national flower of Nepal - Rhododendron sweeps the ascending altitudes with its magnanimous color and beauty.
Summer (between June-August) Season: This season is monsoon season in Nepal and the rain falls almost everyday with occasional thunderstorms. During this season, Nepalese farmers are busy on their fields planting the paddy playing with mud and water and eating beaten rice and curd. Asar 15 has been declared as the National Paddy Day by the Nepal Government since 2004. The rain gives pleasantness around the lush green vegetation.
Autumn (between September-November) Season: This is the main touristic season in Nepal as the mountains and the sky are clear for the panoramic views just after the monsoon season departs. This is the peak season for trekking and the travel, tour and trekking agencies are busy on catering their services to the tourists and if you are planning to visit Nepal for adventure holiday, you need to book early to make sure because this time all the hotel accommodation are fully booked, transportation and air flights are busy. During this season the main Hindu festival, Dashain and Tihar falls.
Winter (between December-February) Season: The weather and climate during the winter season is cool and in higher mountainous region, there is heavy snowfalls. Although morning and night are cold, the days are warm when sunny and the trekking will be possible in lower elevations and the tour, trekking and adventure companies will cater the short treks during this season.
Monsoon in Nepal:
During the rainy monsoon season between June to August in Nepal, it rains to an average between 200-375 millimeters in Kathmandu, there will be occasional rainfall during the other seasons too but during this season there is heavy rainfall, sometimes it falls whole the week. Nepal is a mountainous country and during the rainy season, there are natural disaster like landslide, flood and soil erosion.Recently on 25 April 2015, a massive 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, killing about 9000 people and thousands are injured. The monsoon season has been started and people are still taking shelter on the tents and a lot of people are going to be experiencing freezing temperatures and heavy rainfalls. Living outdoors, the peoples of Nepal have yet another threat looming over them: torrential rains have been projected for the coming days - an early signs of the impending monsoon season. “If people, especially children, are exposed to bad weather all day and night, you’ll be damp, wet, dirty and freezing cold – and the spread of illness will exacerbate this humanitarian crisis,”

Travel Tips:
The majority of the rain falls in the afternoon and night time but there are also occasional days of continuous rain. After the rain, the sky is clear and the mountains are viewed clearly.Travel, Tour, Trekking and Adventure Activities during the season are almost not possible as the trekking route are unsafe. But there are some treks in Manang, Mustang and Dolpo which are rain-shadow areas during the season.
